چکیده

The Marginal Fermi Liquid (MFL) hypothesis proposed by Varma et .al is derived from a consistent treatment of local spin fluctuations in the Falicov-Kimball (FK) Model. Within an infinite-dimensional mean-field approach, which is exact for this model in d = ∞, a marginal Fermi liquid susceptibility and single particle self-energy are obtained near half-filling, and a Fermi liquid phase is recovered sufficiently away from half-filling, in agreement with indications from experiments which probe the normal state of cuprates as a function of doping.

Exact solution of the Falicov-Kimball model with dynamical mean-field theory

The Falicov-Kimball model was introduced in 1969 as a statistical model for metal-insulator transitions; it includes itinerant and localized electrons that mutually interact with a local Coulomb interaction and is the simplest model of electron correlations. It can be solved exactly with dynamical mean-field theory in the limit of large spatial dimensions which provides an interesting benchmark...

Suppression of the "Quasiclassical" proximity gap in correlated-metal--superconductor structures.

We study the energy and spatial dependence of the local density of states in a superconductor--correlated-metal--superconductor Josephson junction, where the correlated metal is a non-Fermi liquid (described by the Falicov-Kimball model). Many-body correlations are treated with dynamical mean-field theory, extended to inhomogeneous systems. While quasiclassical theories predict a minigap in the...

Dynamical mean-field theory for light-fermion–heavy-boson mixtures on optical lattices

We theoretically analyze Fermi-Bose mixtures consisting of light fermions and heavy bosons that are loaded into optical lattices ignoring the trapping potential . To describe such mixtures, we consider the Fermi-Bose version of the Falicov-Kimball model on a periodic lattice. This model can be exactly mapped onto the spinless Fermi-Fermi Falicov-Kimball model at zero temperature for all paramet...

Correlated hopping in infinite dimensions : Rigorous local approach

The general approach for the description of correlated hopping in the Dynamical Mean-Field Theory which is based on the expansion over electron hopping around the atomic limit is developed. It is formulated in terms of the local irreducible parts (cu-mulants) of Green's functions and allowed to calculate thermodynamical functions. As a limit case the Falicov–Kimball model with correlated hoppin...

2 2 O ct 2 01 2 Strongly enhanced thermal transport in a lightly doped Mott insulator at low temperature

We show how a lightly doped Mott insulator has hugely enhanced electronic thermal transport at low temperature. It displays universal behavior independent of the interaction strength when the carriers can be treated as nondegenerate fermions and a nonuniversal “crossover” region where the Lorenz number grows to large values, while still maintaining a large thermoelectric figure-of-merit. The el...
